I have a soft spot for Van Morrison, he has a damn sexy voice. (I think this qualifies as a definite thoughts from the bong post.)

A song that calms me down.
A song that calms me down.

I remember hearing this song in a movie many years back, “Immediate Family.” (It was HBO or some shit like that.)

The scene was memorable enough for me to recall the movies name and everything. James Woods was in it, and I love that guy, he is funny as hell. The movie was a drama, but still.

Back in 1989, I didn’t have the song available at my fingertips. (That’s right, kid’s. You had to go to the mall and buy it from Sam Goody.)

That’s when I bought my cassette tape of Van Morrison’s Greatest Hits.

It gives me a feeling of joy, and I catch myself zoning out for the 3 minutes or so that it plays, images of bonnie boats, and the low, sad call of the foghorns playing in my fluffy head.

Into the Mystic – Van Morrison

We were born before the wind
Also younger than the sun
Ere the bonnie boat was won as we sailed into the mystic
Hark, now hear the sailors cry
Smell the sea and feel the sky
Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic

And when that fog horn blows I will be coming home
And when the fog horn blows I want to hear it
I don’t have to fear it

And I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
And magnificently we will flow into the mystic

When that fog horn blows you know I will be coming home
And when that fog horn whistle blows I got to hear it
I don’t have to fear it

And I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
And together we will flow into the mystic
Come on girl…

Too late to stop now…
