I’m proud to be an 80’s kid

Before smartphones and the web

I could never solve a Rubicks cube

Although my mother did

My moonwalk needed work

I wasn’t sure what a virgin was

But I just wanted to have fun

I had never heard of the word twerk

You talked to a friend instead of texting

Because you always answered your phone

You were called a latch key kid

If you were home alone

Your boom box was your best friend

Or perhaps you used a Walkman

Back when leg warmers were the trend

How I wanted to dress like Punky Brewster

Yes, I’m glad to be an 80’s kid

A proud member of Generation X

Before the world turned digitized

I’m thankful I grew up when I did
